How do I set up application-specific-passwords?

You can create application-specific passwords for using external email programs via POP3/IMAP or integrating your calendar/address book (using CalDav or CardDav) in an external program.


To use application-specific passwords, two-factor authentication must be activated.

  1. Click on Home and on Security Options.
  2. Click on Manage application-specific passwords.
  3. Click on Create new application-specific password.
  4. Enter your password and click on Continue.

    The application-specfic password will be shown only once. Please write down the password immediately.

Use the application-specfic password only for your external email program. Your original password will no longer be required until you deactivate two-factor authentication again.
