Manage folders in mail.com Mail App for Android

Create new folders to sort your emails in line with your preferences. You can change the folder settings at any time and sort the folders according to your organizational criteria.

How to create a new folder

You can create a new folder and give it a name of your choosing.

  1. Tap the menu symbol above the email list.
    The menu navigation is shown.
  2. Tap the folder settings symbol.

  3. Tap the plus symbol at the bottom right.

    A text field is shown.
  4. Enter a name for the new folder and tap OK.
    The new folder is created and is shown in the folder overview.
How to edit a folder

You can delete, move or rename an existing folder.

Folders approved for editing are marked with the ⋮ symbol.
  1. Open the menu navigation and tap the folder settings symbol.

  2. Tap the ⋮ symbol next to the folder you would like to edit.
  3. You have the following options:
    • Remove folder: Tap Remove folder and confirm with OK.
    • Rename folder: Tap Rename folder, enter a new name and confirm with OK.
    • Set storage time for emails in this folder: Tap Delete mails after..., tap on the clock symbol and choose one of the time periods displayed.
    • Set folder synchronization: Tap Activate/Deactivate folder sync to activate or deactivate messaging for new emails in this folder.

      When you activate synchronization in your Mail app's folder settings, you can receive push notifications when incoming emails arrive in this folder instead of in your inbox – e.g., because they have been identified as spam or a filter rule you've set up has been triggered.

How to sort folders

You can sort your folders according to specific organizational criteria, e.g. alphabetically or according to usage frequency.

  1. Tap the menu symbol above the email list.
    The menu navigation is shown.
  2. Tap the folder settings symbol.

  3. Tap the vertically stacked lines to the left of the folder name and press on them to move the folder up or down to the desired position.
