Setting Up Windows Live Mail

Synchronize your mail.com mailbox with Windows Live Mail. Your email will be sent to your application in regularly intervals using IMAP.

How to add your email account

Info:

IMAP is only available to mail.com Premium customers.

  1. Select Accounts and thenEmail.

  2. Enter your email address and password. Check Manually configure server settings. Click on Next.

  3. Choose the server type IMAP and enter the server address imap.mail.com and the port 993. Check Requires a secure connection. Enter the the server address smtp.mail.com for the outgoing server and port 587. Check each box for Requires a secure connection and Requires authentication.

  4. Click on Next and then on Finish.
Windows 8 Mail synchronizes with your mail.com mailbox.
Next step:

You have to link the folders so that your email will be filed in the correct folders.

How to link your folders
  1. Right-click on the new account (a) and click on Properties (b)
  2. Select the IMAP tab and enter the names of the mail.com IMAP folders (c):

  • Sent Items path: Sent Items
  • Drafts path: Drafts
  • Deleted Items path: Deleted Items
  • Junk path: Junk email

  1. Click Apply and OK.

Windows Live Mail will file the email in the respective folders.
